"I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer." – Psalm 17:6
God Hears
We believe that God hears and answers prayer not because we can demonstrate this on the basis of our experience, but because God's Word repeatedly assures us that God promises to hear and answer the prayers of believers.
God Knows
We believe prayer is the heartbeat of the Christian's faith and should be as natural as breathing. However, God does not lay down rules for how we are to pray. Even when we cannot articulate our prayerful thoughts and yearnings very well, the Holy Spirit is by our side interceding for us and aiding us in our prayer life. "Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words" (Romans 8:26).
Opportunities for Prayer
Shepherd's Gate recognizes the importance of prayer. We have a weekly prayer list eNews available for personal reflection during your daily prayer time. There is also a prayer chain to initiate for emergencies. Our Men's Ministry meets each Saturday morning at church to pray for the staff and ministries. Shepherd's Gate also offers prayer services at various times throughout the year.
Personal Prayer Support
If you desire prayer or someone to talk to, there are volunteers available after Sunday morning or mid-week services to support you.
"God's Healing Hands" prayer team is available for those times in our lives when we desire the presence of fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to pray with us. This team of trained Christians is available to pray, support and walk with you through those time when you face physical or spiritual situations for which you desire prayer.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" Philippians 4:6
